Project update

2024 updates:

• Tender applications were analysed and the contract awarded to Hutchinsons for £828,785.53.
• The build start date is likely to be end of July / beginning of August now due to general elections delaying funding confirmations.

2023 work completed:

• Planning permission approved by BDC

What was achieved in 2021?

1. Architects have completed our plans for a full size 3G pitch located at the Layham Road Sports Ground.
2. Architects have prepared draft plans for the new sports pavilion
3. We have completed a Program of Use based upon the needs of Hadleigh Football and Rugby Clubs and other local clubs and organisations who have already registered their interest in using the new facilities. The Programme of Use indicates full utilisation of the 3G can be expected on weekday evenings and at weekends. Members of the public and other organisations will be able to register their interest in using the facilities at other times.
4. In preparation for the demolition of the old pavilion that was damaged by fire in 2020 we have put in place temporary changing rooms, a shower unit and toilets to allow the continued used of the pitches and tennis courts at Layham Road Sports Ground whilst the new facilities are developed. We are very grateful and thank the Hadleigh Scouts leaders for granting the Town Council permission to locate the temporary units on their land.
5. We have made the old pavilion building safe and ready for demolition and installed a new power distribution unit in readiness to feed the new facilities.

7. LRSG 7th Dec update

The Working Group was dissolved and a Sub-committee created in it’s place on 17th June 2021. The sub-committee had helped get the project started and prepare the architect’s brief and design considerations. The sub-committee has now been suspended (July 2022) until a time that it may required in the future. All decisions have to be made by Full Council and now a monthly project update along with any decisions is taken to Full Council meetings.
