Hadleigh Cemetery

The Council own and administer the Cemetery. Maintenance of the Cemetery and St. Mary’s Churchyard is carried out under contract which is regularly reviewed. Hadleigh Cemetery Map

The cemetery was opened in 1845 and extended in the 1970’s.  The site is to the west of the town in a largely unbuilt area.  The land rises from the valley of the River Brett in a continuous incline, climbing the hill in an area known as Friars Hill.  In 2011, the council investigated the possibility of purchasing adjacent land for a further extension.  Having invested in additional land, work on the extension has been completed and the area became fully operational in 2022 (see separate page for more information on the completed project).

Burial and cremation plots in the traditional form or natural burials can be reserved at any time through the council or a preferred funeral director, as can times for scattering ashes in the designated area.
